Renwood
Renwood 2000 Old Vine Zinfandel   The term “Old Vine” always conjurs up excitement when I read it on a label.   I found Renwood Old Vine Zinfandel to have the elements that zin-drinkers look for in a wine.   It has ripe fruit, texture in the mouth, and a gripping finish.   The palate explodes with ripe blackberry, blueberry, clove, tobacco, and black pepper.   The fruit is a ample enough to handle the acidity perfectly.   The tannins on the finish give a velvety mouth-feel of bitter chocolate.   This is the stuff good zinfandels are made of.   Worthy of a steak, a burger, or a hearty tomato sauce dish.   You gotta love this well made spicy zinfandel.
Retail price $20.   Tasted August 14, 2003.   Two dazzling .
