Tablas Creek
Tablas Creek Roussanne 2002 Paso Robles  was what one would would hope for in an "Old World" style wine made in a "New World" environment.   The nose is floral with whisps of fragrant white flowers.   The color is and mouthfeel are rich.   Notes of honey, honeysuckle, breadfruit, gardenias, and mustard seed grace the palate.   The acidity is keeping with the richness of fruit, yet is not distracting.   Very elegant offering a lingering finish.
Retail price $20.   Tasted September 10, 2003.   A refreshing change of pace earning one .

Novella Synergy 2001  is a juicy blend of 45% Zinfandel, 45% Sangiovese, and 10% Petite Sirah.    These varietals were fermented alone to bring out the charateristics of each and then blended to create a structured, spicy, medium bodied, wine that smacks of Italy.   The fruit is dense with blackberry flavors, plum, clove, and bitter chocolate.   The tannins are smooth.   The acidity is balances out the big fruit flavors making it a great choice for steaks, burgers, or tomato sauces.   I would dare to serve this to my wine-nerd friends.
Retail price $11.   Tasted September 8, 2003.   A great bottle for the money with two .

EOS Estate 2000 Reserve Petite Sirah  is a berry-bomb on the palate.   Allow this little beauty to open up a bit, because once this inky red is ready, you're going experience big fruit with depth and structure.   The palate has a great blueberry note with a turn of black pepper, and a touch of coffee.   This wine is very big and should be paired with dishes that can handle the flavors such as lamb, hearty tomato sauce, and tomato or soy based marinades.   The quality is exceptional and this wine is a great choice now or save it for a few years take advantage of even deeper flavors.
Retail price $25.   Tasted September 8, 2003.   Enjoyable now and later earning two .

EOS Estate 2000 Zinfandel Port    There is something so spicy, sexy, and alluring about a Zinfandel Port.   This port is so deeply extracted, jammy, with spicy notes and a silky, almost dangerous finish.   Blueberries, raspberries, plums, mint, licorice explode in your mouth, as the high alcohol allows the nectar to coat your mouth.   The finish lingers in a attempt to seduce you to drink more.   A lovely ending for a great meal or when you just want to drink something special and satisfying.   Retail price $28.   Tasted September 8, 2003.   A great desert wine earning two .

Foppiano 2001 Petite Sirah  has that inky, blueberry canvas that makes petite sirah such an enjoyable wine.   There is layers of ripe black cherry, hints of clove, and a bit of tar splashed across the blueberry canvas.   The acid is very complimentary to the big fruit on the front-end of the palate.   The finish is savory white pepper.   The tannins are a bit chewy, but the intensity of the fruit helps to balance the flavors.   Enjoyable now, but collectors will be very, rewarded with a year or two of patience.
Retail price $16.   Tasted May 7, 2003.   A great bottle now or lay it down for even more complexity with one .
