Kris 2001 Pinot Grigio
is unique pinot grigio. The fruit can be described in terms of
citrus fruits, like limes, lemons, and quince and zesty green apples.
This wine has refreshing clean acidity that is reminiscent of pinot grigios
of an older style, when everything didn't have to taste like an oaky chardonnay.
The balance is wonderful with it's bold citrus fruit flavors, edgy acidity,
and floral finish. I believe that Trentino-Alto Adige area has as much to offer
in the way of cooler-climate wines as Fruili does.
Retail price $10. Tasted March 14, 2003. We give this wine one .

Anselmi 2001 Pinot Grigio
from Friuli is consistent with the New World style pinot grigios.
The nose is floral with little hints of honey.
It has melon, apple, and a hint of lime zest on the palate.
The finish is ample carrying a subtle mineral and citrus zest flavor.
This is a very balanced pinot grigio that would pair with most lighter foods beautifully.
Retail price $10. Tasted August 14, 2003. Solid choice with one .

Bollini 2001 Trentino Pinot Grigio
is a pleasantly new-world style pinot grigio. I found the fruit to have an
apple base with richer sparks of melon, fig, and lychee flavors.
The finish is smooth with hints of green tea and apples.
The acidity is soft, yet the wine still retains its ability to pair well with foods.
Retail price $10. Tasted May 22, 2003. We give this wine one .

Tiefenbrunner2001 Pinot Grigio
This pinot grigio has pear, apple, and a touch of clove in the palate with a smooth, clean
finish. It is wonderful with summer fare, such as grilled fish and chicken, and
salads. The acidity is what you'd come to expect from a pinot grigio.

Valle Isarco 2002 Müller Thurgau
is an interesting change of pace from the Trentino-Alto Adige region that produces so much pinot grigio.
This Müller Thurgau, (Moo-lehr Toor-gow), has a fragrant nose of
spring flowers and a generous, crisp green apple flavor on the palate.
It is refreshingly dry and savory, a perfect choice for chicken, fish, seafood, salads.
The finsh is spicy with a wisp of clove.
All and all a delightfully balanced, inexpensive wine.
Next time you're shopping for a pinot grigio, try something different, you'll be glad you did.
For those collectors, I imagine that this bottle will improve for a few years with a little patience.
Please excuse our image. It was the best we could come up with since the bottle of wine was devoured at a party.
Retail price $12. Tasted May 2, 2003.
We give this crisp little wine two .

Mezza Corona 2002 Trentino Pinot Grigio
is a great value for the price.
It has good acidity and fruit, making it a well balanced pinot grigio.
Many pinot grigios in this price range are a bit too acidic or too bitter for the amount of fruit they posses.
Mezza Corona Pinot Grigio is very well made for the price since its fruit is of better quality.
Since it is available in magnums, it makes a great crowd pleaser at parties.
Retail price $8. Magnum price $14. We rate this wine with one .

Albino Armani 2001 Pinot Grigio Valdadige
is one of the smoothest pinot grigios I've tasted.
The nose is fragrant with notes of honeycomb, ripe citus fruit and melons.
The palate is musk melon, lime zest, with slight flinty, mineral tones.
The finish once again boasts of rich honeycomb.
The acidity is soft and the finish is very, very smooth.
While some pinot grigios have big fruit and cutting acidity, Albino Armani Pinot Grigio is elegant,
delicate, and smooth.
Serve with lighter foods such as broiled or grilled fish, chicken, light pasta dishes, cheeses, or fruit.
Retail price $14. Tasted August 30, 2003. A gem earning one .
