Selections for Ham and Turkey
|
Red wine is a preference for many wine drinkers.
Unfortunately, red wine causes off flavors when paired with ham and
completely overwhelms the delicate flavors of turkey.
Pink wine is the perfect pick for pink food.
Rosé made from red grapes and is made in the same manner as red wine.
Read more about rosé and why we at redwhiteandrose.com call it
"Red wine light."

Renard 2004 Rosé, Napa Valley, California
Smoke, black cherries, tobacco . . . wait! Am I talking about a red wine?
No, this is most definitely a rosé.
A blend of the red grapes syrah and grenache, with a touch of viognier,
this is a dark pink wine with a touch of grip from slight tannins.
Dense, like a red, yet light enough for ham and turkey.
Delightful! - BF $16

For those of you who do not see ham or turkey in your menu during the next week,
try this bottle of red wine.
This is a very spicy little red.
The nose has aromas of ground black pepper, which carries over to the palate.
Notes of sundried tomatoes, cedar, tobacco,
and black licorice are swept away by a good dose of blueberry.
It has some backbone in the way of tannins,

The Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil
This book has become one of our favorite references.
It does a good job of giving a history of all the wine producing areas of the world
and focuses on the well known as well as the smaller production wines.
MacNeil's prose is eloquent; her explanations and
the way she organizes the information makes you wish you had written the book yourself.
It is a comprehensive book from a global standpoint and does a good job covering most regions. -BF

Reminescent of fresh cut hay, citrus and a hint of caramel.
