RainoldiValtellina Superiore 1999 Prugnolo
is made from 100% nebbiolo grapes from the region of Lombardia.
A beautiful garnet red color give away the fact that its made from nebbiolo.
Plums, rosehips, wild cherries, and toasted spices swarm your mouth as the acidity and
tannins follow up with hints of black pepper.
The tannins are inviting and balance the experience.
Retail price $18. Tasted September 8, 2003. Granceful and elegant earning two .

Santa Anastasia Nero d'Avalo 2000
is a Silcilian red made from native nero d'avalo grapes.
Upon opening the bottle the light, bright flavors of raspberries and strawberries, typical of nero d'avalo are in the forefront of the palate.
As the wine opens up the more sulty flavors of spices show themselves.
The acidity is light and the tannins smooth.
This is a nice lighter style red for those times when you want to red, but a lighter bodied wine.
Retail price $10. Tasted September 8, 2003. Light flavored and quaffable earning one .

Coppo Camp du Rouss 2000
is so wonderfully violet. Violets on the palate give this wine an exotic flavor that I find very appealing.
This is 100% Barbera d'Asti and 100% elegant and food friendly. I found the acidity to be very approachable.
This is a wine that you'd serve with a special meal that needs a full bodied red, but also requires an unusual flavor, such
as violets. I suggest lamb, elk, or beef with a dark fruit marrinade such as black cherry or blueberry.
Retail price $17. Tasted May 24, 2003. We give this wine two .

Regaleali 2001 Rosso by Tasca d'Amerita
is another gem from the Island of Sardina.
90% nero d'avola and 10% perricone blend a very unusual red wine boasting with flavors of strawberries,
raspberries, lavender, earth, and mushrooms.
I found the change of pace from the big black-berried wines to be atypical and refreshing.
This is definately a wine that can handle chicken, grilled eggplant, primavera type pasta sauces, and
other fare that might normally get a white wine as a pairing, but could handle a lighter red.
Retail price $15. Tasted April 3, 2003. A reliable choice with one .

Argiolas 2001 Costamolino
comes from the enchanging island of Sardina.
This wine is 100% full bodied vermentino, with a rich fruit mid-palate.
The ample acidity is balanced perfect with the flavors of lillies, almonds, fig, and a
smidge of orange zest.
It comes on strong, yet ends elegant.
A great value for the bargain hunter looking for a nice summer quaffer,
or a distinct white that will stand up to any lighter food you set it next to.
Retail price $8. Tasted December 3, 2002. Solid choice at one .
