Quinta do Zambujeiro 2000
It's been a few weeks since I've tasted this wine and as I look over my notes, I see a little scribble
that says "Wow, put on your seatbelt."
This comment makes me smile with a fond memory of how huge and balanced this wonderful bottle of wine was.
I remember how I was awed by this inky, extraordinarily ripe, sultry, wine.
There is a blueberry and black cherry component to this wine on the palate,
coupled with a very dark presence, like some secret rich Indian spice on the finish.
Yes, put your seat belt on.
I was told the bottle contained a monastrell blend, but further research led
me to find it's trincadeira and tempranillo.
This is a serious wine. Forget about impressing your friends with the usual trophy-wines.
Treat them to a bottle of this and you'll become a guru instantly.
