Columbia Winery Cellarmaster's Riesling
I was wow'ed by this wine.
The nose was floral, on the palate there were notes of honeycomb, white flowers, and peaches.
Elegant and rich, this wine is a steal for the price.
With a touch of residual sugar, the finish lingered like a lover's kiss.

Covey Run 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot
A great inexpensive Bordeaux blend from Washington state.
There is about 17% cabernet franc blended into this bottle of wine,
with the cab and merlot splitting the remaining 83%.
Cabernet franc always adds wonderful spicy notes and long white peppery finishes to a blend.
This wine offers fruit forward ripeness, spicy notes, and sultry tannins.
A surprising little bottle of inexpensive red wine, offering cocoa, plum, smoke, and mint.
Retail price $8. Tasted October 5, 2003.

Tamarack Cellars 2000 Merlot
Ron Coleman carefully selects grapes from many different vineyards to get the flavor
and quality he demands for his Tamarack Merlot.
The effort he puts forth is artistic.
This merlot has roasted nuts and honey on the nose followed by a rich,
ripe black cherry canvas.
Splashed across this juicy canvas are hints of licorice, bitter chocolate, and toasted caramel.
The acidity is wonderful, proving that a domestic merlot can have great acidity and structure.
83% merlot, 9% cabernet sauvignon, 8% cabernet franc,
right bank Bordeaux style from a domestic producer.
Mr. Coleman has done his homework.
Retail price $25. Tasted September 2, 2003.
An understated value . . . a definite in the know red earning three out of a possible three .

Tamarack Cellars 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
is yet another work of art in regard to the process of selecting the grapes for this bottle of wine.
This 81% cabernet sauvignon, 12% merlot, 7% cabernet franc blend is soft and sultry.
The black cherry and cassis flavors are very ripe and peaking through the savory fruit flavors
is a subtle coffee and cream flavor.
The tannins are soft.
Tamarack Cabernet Sauvignon is very elegant.
The use of oak is classic, not oak for the flavor of oak, but rather used to impart
roasted creamy flavors.
Bravo!
Retail price $25. Tasted September 2, 2003. A fine bottle of wine earning two out of three .

is a Bordeaux blend with a splash of the Rhône Valley.
With its 40% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 15% syrah and 5% cabernet franc, this inexpensive red

wine is a great buy.
Pair this with a grilled steak, a cheeseburger, or any rich meal.
This wine has a great backbone that can stand up to fatty foods.

Sageland 2000 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
has concentrated flavors and a pleasant vanilla finish.
The nose is soft with notes of roses and toasted vanilla.
The wine is very juicy on the palate with very ripe black fruit flavors such as black cherries and currents.
There are subtle notes of coffee, a hint of cocoa, and a smidge of mint peaking out from the ripe cherry and berry flavors.
The vanilla on the finish adds a polished touch as the soft tannins linger a moment in your mouth.
I taste many domestic cabernets and found this one to be great quality for the price.
Retail price $12. Tasted August 23, 2003. A good choice with one .
