Argentina

Vila Tinto 2002 Fundacion, Mendoza, Argentina
This is a fun blend and a surprising value. Cabernet sauvignon, bonarda, malbec marry into a bright red. Notes of red raspberries, a little licorice, a little spice. A great bottle to keep on hand for those moments when a good inexpensive red is called for.
Tasted September 25, 2006
-BF $8
Tony B's Wine List (Next to the Original Tony's Meats on Dry Creek), Total Beverage in Fort Collins carry this wine.

Vila 2004 Bonarda, Mendoza, Argentina
This is a great little red for the money. Notes of red roses and smoked meats carry over to the mulberry flavored palate. It is fruity, yet has a good balance of acidity and soft tannins.

Funky Llama Tempranillo, Argentina
Bright cherry, plum, and spice in a soft drinkable red. There's a slight touch of cedar on the finish. Slight white pepper tannins and good acidity make this a great wine for food.

Zolo 2004 Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina
This is a dense wine. Deep violet in color, it offers flavors of black raspberries and sugar cookie dough on the palate. Blueberry prevails on the finish. A full bodied wine with tannins and acidity balanced against the brooding fruit.
-BF $14

Alto Cedro 2004 Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina
Alto Cedro means 'tall cedar.' Old vine malbec is layered and interesting. Hints of strawberries develop on the front of the palate. This wine has a bright presence in the mouth. The mid-palate carries spice, kiffer lime, and black fruit flavors. A steal for the price.
-BF $15

Gimenez Riili Torrontes, Mendoza, Argentina
Expressive nose, with notes of white flowers and apricots. Fresh and crisp with soft acidity, the palate swims in lime peel and orange peel, pear, honeysuckle and flowers. Delightful. Great pair with lighter foods. -BF $8
