Peju Provence Rosé California
This rosé is a blend of merlot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, with a splash of chardonnay, and French Colombard. This is another rosé that has descriptor you normally find with red wines. The palate has flavors of black cherries and leather. The mid-palate hints of bright red fruits, raspberries and cranberries with notes of citrus zest. There is a touch of creaminess giving this wine a rich mouth presence. -BF $22

Quady

Quady Electra Orange Muscat 750ml
This dessert wine is not only delicious, but it is priced so well, you'll want to buy two. Orange muscat is so fragrant on the nose and that fragrance carries over to the palate in the form of organes, peaches, and summer flowers. A balanced dose of acidity makes it a bargain for the price. Another 'stickie' with lower alcohol makes this a great wine for sharing. -BF $12

Quady Essensia White Muscat 375ml
An astonishing bottle of dessert wine with its heady aromas of plumeria and orange blossoms. On the palate its flavors are rich notes of apricots, tangerines, lime leaves, and flan, and its acidity offers the perfect mouthwatering experience. This dessert wine is fortified, which means that spirits were added to it, raising its alcohol level to 15%. The added alcohol offers a balance to the abundant sweetness. A great way to end a perfect meal. -BF $15

R

Roederer Estate NV Brut, Anderson Valley, California
This is a great sparkling wine from a Champagne producer. Roederer, like many other Champagne Houses, looked to California's Anderson Valley for an opportunity to take advantage of California's exceptional weather. Roederer Estate is an impressive sparkling wine for the money. It has a rich, creamy nose. On the palate, this wine offers notes of strawberries, green tea, and green apples. It has mouth watering acidity with a round, velvety finish. This is a very undervalued bottle for the money.

Pink Truck 2005
Okay, this was supposed to be a pinot noir only issue, but I know many of you will have to buy a white zinfandel for you holiday dinner. This wine was created to give white zinfandel drinkers a better quality option. Not only is it a step up from the mainstream, cookie-cutter white zins, but makes a great wine for spicy-hot food, and hard to pair fare, like ham, turkey, and salads. A blend of zinfandel, grenache and mourvedre, this rosé, yes that's right it's a rosé, is loaded with flavors of raspberries, strawberries, lime, cinnamon spice, and tangerine. It still has some residual sugar sweetness, but is not as sweet as most mainstream white zins, which makes it a perfect bottle of wine for hot cuisine like Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian. Bursting berry flavors, soft mouthfeel and acidity make it a great pick for Thanksgiving.

White Truck 2005 California Pinot Grigio
What a nose!!! Maybe it's from the splash of muscat canelli added to this pinot grigio. This should be labeled pinot gris instead of pinot grigio because of its exotic and layered flavors. Aromas of summer flowers and spice lead to a zesty white wine. On the palate this wine is ripe with flavors of melon and peaches. All stainless steel fermentation, so the fresh fruit flavors are showcased. A lingering finish hint of lime zest and a refreshing dose of acidity. A great pair for grilled fish, chicken piccata, pasta with cream sauce, turkey sandwiches, and warm weather, lighter foods. -BF $12

White Truck 2004, California
A blend of sauvignon blanc 55%, pinot grigio 25%, viognier 10% and chardonnay 10%. This soft canvas of tangerine has hints of spring flowers and a snappy lime zest finish. Wonderfully polished, it is a great bottle of wine for many lighter dishes. Try it with a cream sauce or grilled salmon. -BF -$11

Red Zeppelin 2004 Bear Valley Ranch & O'Neil Vineyard, Central Coast Syrah
This is a spicy syrah. Aromas of blueberries prevail on the nose. On the palate clove, patchouli, cinnamon, and berry jam are symphony of flavors with vanilla chiming in on the finish. Great acidity is followed by soft tannins. The label is a conversation starter, the wine is solid. Tasted October 24, 2006.

Renard 2004 Rosé, Napa Valley, California
Smoke, black cherries, tobacco . . . wait! Am I talking about a red wine? No, this is most definitely a rosé. A blend of the red grapes syrah and grenache, with a touch of viognier, this is a dark pink wine with a touch of grip from slight tannins. Dense, like a red, yet light enough for ham and turkey. Delightful! -BF $16

Rosenblum 2002 Fess Parker Syrah, Santa Barbara, California
This is a densely flavored syrah. The black raspberry canvas peaks through prominent flavors of pencil shavings and kiffer lime. It is sultry with a good dose of acid on the finish. The tannins are soft. A special bottle of red that would go well with food.
