Solex 2004, Chardonnay, California
This wine blends juice from the Russian River, Santa Lucia, and Sonoma into a finely balanced chardonnay with a smooth mouth presence. The Russian River Valley and Santa Lucia weather allows chardonnay to develop complexity while keeping its acidity. This wine is smooth with flavors of apples, anise, pineapple, and a hint of cream. The acidity allows the wine to have a soft mouthfeel, yet gives the wine structure. The 75% oak aging adds only finesse. Quality chardonnay, from renoun growing regions, at a great price.
-BF $14

Stonehedge 2005 Chardonnay, Monterrey, California
A very drinkable chardonnay for the price. Bright notes of lime, melon, and caramel are layered over a canvas of mouthwatering acidity. A touch of cream on the finish.
Tasted October 8, 2006
-BF $9

Summers 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California
A very complex and interesting red wine. The flavors are integrated and rich, offering notes of cassis, dark chocolate, vanilla, and bing cherry. It is dense from the fore-palate to the finish with soft tannins, and notes of smoke and roasted coffee on the mid-palate. A great gift, a candidate for the cellar, or the perfect bottle for a special meal, or a special companion.
Tasted October 24, 2006
-BF $50

T

Toad Hollow Risqué 750ml, California
Low in alcohol, softly carbonated, bursting with flavors of green apples and peaches. A sweet libation that is vibrant and quaffable. Goes splendidly with a fruit plate or some almond cookies. It is a bit risqué, but with half the alcohol, there's no worry of roudy bouts of the Can-Can breaking out in your living room. -BF $12
