Mumm Cuvée M, California
Cuvée M is layered and interesting offering notes of strawberries, ginger, and lime leaves. The finish is rich and a touch creamy. The producer selects from dozens of vineyards for the perfect grapes to make this fine sparkling wine.

Roederer Estate NV Brut, Anderson Valley, California
This is a great sparkling wine from a Champagne producer. Roederer, like many other Champagne Houses, looked to California's Anderson Valley for an opportunity to take advantage of California's exceptional weather. Roederer Estate is an impressive sparkling wine for the money. It has a rich, creamy nose. On the palate, this wine offers notes of strawberries, green tea, and green apples. It has mouth watering acidity with a round, velvety finish. This is a very undervalued bottle for the money.

Jacuzzi 2005 Pinot Noir, Sonoma, California
This is a concentrated pinot noir. Spicy aromas and notes of roses rise from the glass. On the palate, this wine offers notes of earth, tar, clove, cola nut and bright wild cherry flavors. The acidity is balanced against the deep flavors. The tannins are soft, yet offer enough grip to pair with lean or fatty foods.

Chateau St. Jean 2003 Robert Young Vineyard Chardonnay, Alexander Valley, California
This is an elegant, bright, and layered chardonnay. I tasted this wine with winemaker Margo van Staaveren a month ago. Flavors of lime zest, melon, and apricots dance on your tongue in an exceptional offering of chardonnay. The finish is rich with notes of flan. It doesn't take long to understand why Margo has been bestowed so many accolades.

Chateau St. Jean Belle Terre Vineyard, Alexander Valley Chardonnay
Lovely offering of chardonnay. The wine is light and citrusy on the fore-palate with hints of lime zest. It crescendos the finish with intensity! Anise, vanilla, and flan build on the finish. This is an impressive wine.

Chateau St. Jean 2004 Pinot Noir, Sonoma, California
When I tasted this pinot noir I was with Margo van Staaveren. She was amused that I was concentrating so hard on her wines. Believe me, there are so many nuance in these wines that you want to focus on the flavors. I guess that is why she was bestowed with a 'Wine of the Year.' This pinot noir is layered and interesting. Notes of mint, cola, and vanilla, are splashed across a wild cherry canvas. -BF $22

Chateau St. Jean 2003 Merlot, Sonoma, California
I found this merlot to be lighter in flavor, but not in body. An interesting red with an alluring drinkability. Notes of vanilla on the nose. On the palate it blooms with notes of hibiscus flowers an pomegranate. An underlying wild cherry note offers good acidity. A merlot with lots of personality. -BF $22

Gary Farrell 2003 Russian River Chardonnay
Glorious! This chardonnay is a real treat! Farrell's chardonnays are usually a single vineyard bottling, but this particular one is a blend of several selected sites. Layered flavors of pineapple, caramel, marshmallow, and lime zest are complimented by a mouthwatering acidity. The finish is incredible, lingering on and on long after the wine has been consumed. -BF $32
